Chapter Four: The Four of Wands — A Celebration of Fire

The crowdfunding progress ultimately exceeded her expectations. That night, when the numbers jumped to twice the goal, Elara’s hands almost didn’t dare touch the screen, as if it were a sacred prophecy that had just been fulfilled.

Then, the real world began to change. Strangers wrote to her, saying that the concept of Ember had rekindled their hope. Friends volunteered to help her test levels. Players on forums spontaneously organized discussion groups, analyzing the gameplay and suggesting improvements. The nights she had spent burning alone suddenly became a festival of flames.

So, she held a small party in her tiny apartment. The table was piled with cheap pizza and discount wine from the supermarket. The people there were mostly strangers to each other, but they were brought together by that single beam of light. The neon lights flickered outside, and laughter echoed inside. In the living room, some excitedly discussed the "philosophy of light and shadow," while others in the kitchen debated which special effects would make the player feel more immersed.

Elara sat in a corner of the sofa, holding her wine glass and watching this spontaneously gathered energy. She suddenly realized that the Four of Wands was not a finish line of "victory" but the beginning of "belonging."

The flame was no longer hers alone. It had become a bonfire, illuminating the eyes of the people gathered around it.
